The jury's unanimous decision was to award the prize to Kotone Utsunomiya (Japan) for visual and narrative originality. In this submission, Kotone demonstrates mastery in creating sequences of images which, supported by the text, transport us, effortlessly and intriguingly, from one page to the next, revealing consistent and clear storytelling, and a strong sense of humor that shines through on every page.

Born in Tokyo, Japan. Graduated Tama Art University, Textile department. Moved to Czech Republic to study at Academy of Arts Architecture & Design in Prague, Illustration & Graphic studio for three years, graduated in 2021. The diploma work picture book INFINITY is nominated The Most Beautiful Czech Book Of The Year 2021 and a win prize of the Czech book competition Book Vision. Currently, Illustrator, picture book writer based in Stockholm and Tokyo.
